What Is Life Coaching?
Life Coaching is a process where you can share your concerns with a trained professional coach who will listen well, ask clarifying questions, and help you to find solutions for your situation. A good coach will help you to focus on the problem you want to solve or the situation you want to change.
Life Coaching is not the same as psychotherapy or mental health counseling. The process of therapy generally involves helping you to look at your past and resolve issues that are creating distress in your life.
The focus of coaching is on the present, not the past. The goal of coaching is to help clients realize their own power to find creative solutions, and to develop goals to bring about the change they are seeking.
Even if a life coach is or has been licensed as a mental health professional, it is important to maintain the distinction between these two professions. Life coaching is not a substitute for mental health treatment.
Life coaching can be very effective in helping you to work on current situations or relationships, make decisions, set goals, and make a plan to achieve them. Please get in touch if you have any questions about whether life coaching is right for you!
